2025 Porsche 718 – Porsche is gearing up to launch its all-electric successor to the 718 Boxster and Cayman sports cars by the middle of the decade. The next-generation 718 Boxster and Cayman are set to debut in 2025, exclusively as electric sports cars. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume announced this during the brand’s 2023 annual press conference.

The starting price for the 2025 Porsche 718 Boxster EV is expected to be around $80,000, making it approximately $15,000 more expensive than the current entry-level Boxster with an internal combustion engine. The 718 EV will be Porsche’s third electric car, arriving shortly after the launch of the all-electric Macan.

The Porsche 718 EV 2025 is based on the Mission R concept, which features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system delivering 670 hp in race mode and a temporary 1,073 hp in a mode designed for brief qualifying runs. The concept also includes a single-speed transmission that allows for a top speed of over 186 mph, depending on the gear ratio fitted.

Customers can expect a driving range of 250-300 miles (EPA-estimated) from the Porsche 718 EV. The electric sports car will likely be available in both hardtop and convertible variants, with a rear-motor-only version serving as the entry-level model. An all-electric GTS equivalent may use all-wheel drive for additional grip and even faster acceleration.

The 718 EV’s design is expected to be influenced by the Taycan, featuring LED headlights with HD matrix technology and a full-width tail light. Inside, the cabin will likely be more spacious and practical than the gas-powered 718 Cayman, thanks to the dedicated EV platform. The interior will follow the general blueprint laid out by the Taycan, with select changes made to keep the weight low.

Porsche’s electrification strategy aims to have 50% of its models sold in 2025 powered by an electric motor, with the goal of reaching 80% by 2030. The Porsche 718 Cayman Electric is part of this mission and is expected to compete with rivals such as the Alpine A110 successor, which is officially confirmed to arrive by 2026.
